nicefig and Fathom

Fathom's action items, on one board that keeps itself up to date.

Fathom records the call and writes the recap. nicefig puts each action item on the work it belongs to, and adds the emails that follow to the same fig.

What Fathom does well.

It records the call

Zoom, Google Meet and Teams, with a free plan that includes unlimited recordings, transcripts and AI summaries.

The recap is quick

The recap, action items included, is ready the moment the meeting ends.

It shares by itself

Auto-share can send the summary, or the summary and recording, to the people on the invite.

How Fathom's notes reach your board.

Connected, by itself

  1. In Fathom, open Settings, then API Access, and generate an API key.
  2. In nicefig, paste it under Settings, Connected apps. Step by step.
  3. Each call arrives about a minute after it ends, with its full transcript, and is filed to the client it is about.

Or from your inbox

  1. In Fathom's settings, turn on auto-share for the summary, so the recap reaches your inbox after each call.
  2. Forward Fathom's emails to your nicefig address with one Gmail or Outlook filter. How to set up forwarding.
  3. Each recap is read against your board and filed to the client it is about.

By hand, any time

  1. Open the call in Fathom and copy the summary or the full transcript.
  2. Paste it into Add to board in nicefig.
  3. A full transcript finds more than a summary, because the summary has already decided what mattered.

The email that follows the call lands on the same fig.

This is the part nicefig adds.

Monday, Fathom's notes

From the callAction items: "Add a price list to the website."

nicefig suggests a new fig on that client's board: "Add a price list to the website", with the call as its source.

Thursday, by email

From the client"It should be green, not orange, and leave out the health check packages."

Nobody named the task. nicefig recognises this as an update to Monday's fig and suggests two steps and a note, with the email as the source.

Fathom's Asana link creates a new task for each action item.

Fathom can turn action items into Asana tasks in one click, and send notes to Notion. Each call adds its own items. When a client changes something by email three days later, nothing joins that email to the task the call created. nicefig reads every call and every email against the work already on your board, so the change goes onto the fig it belongs to.

Questions people ask.

Do I need to stop using Fathom?

No. Fathom records and writes the recap. nicefig reads the recap, or the transcript, and keeps the work up to date across calls and emails.

Does nicefig record my calls?

No. It reads what your recorder produces, and anything else you send it: email, files, photos and voice notes.

Will my clients see anything?

Only if you choose to share a board with them. Fathom's auto-share settings decide who gets its recap; nicefig does not email your clients.

Which Fathom plan do I need?

Any. Fathom gives an API key on every plan, free included, so connecting it to nicefig works on the free plan too.

What happens to a call about two clients?

Each piece of work goes to the board it belongs to. Anything nicefig cannot place waits for you to choose.

Keep Fathom. Add the board it was missing.

A month free, then $12 a month.
